Kaiji Quick Take Review

Chapter 0 – I am reading this because we are watching a film based of this manga. This is nothing like the Animal World trailer, but I do like how the author built tension on wanting the main character to win even though our main character is a gambler.

Chapter 1 – That is some shitty luck. I want this main character to win!

Chapter 2 – Poor guy. I feel for him. I am enjoying the pacing of the story. Nothing feels rushed.

Chapter 3 – Can’t stop reading.

Chapter 4 – Nice job layering the games on more games.

Chapter 5 – I started reading this manga because a film titled Animal World recently came out. The boat and this rock, paper, scissor card game is the only connection they share.

Chapter 6 – That chapter was too long and wordy.

Chapter 7 – Ahhhh this is just like the movie now scene for scene.

Chapter 8 – Half the fun is seeing what the movie changed.

Chapter 9 – I still don’t care for the art style, it isn’t very pretty, but I want to see where this manga goes after the boat.

Chapter 10 – It is definitely starting to hit its stride. A fantastic scene about hope and taking action occurred in this chapter, and I truly want to see how the main character evolves. At this point it is pretty close to the movie. I am excited to see how the manga is different and how it continues the story of Kaiji.

Chapter 0
Entertaining start. I enjoy the artwork. Main character has some shitty luck heh you’ll get it once you read it. Nice violent fight scenes. Ok, maybe his luck is turning around.

Chapter 1
Meh, fairly generic chapter. Uninteresting main big boss villain introduction.

Chapter 2
Sad face. Main character went on a messed up mission. Not feelin this random turn of events. It is has if he lost any emotion from down on his luck chapter 0, but he does want to be an assassin, so I kind of understand. Funny Jay Chou reference. So Random. Last fight with random group has some cool artwork.

Chapter 3
lol here is the song the artist references

Arrogant lunatic. I agree with that title. I don’t really want to like the main character after his first mission, but he is pretty entertaining. Hmmmm now we are introduced to more assassins, and he caught their attention…. through a homemade music video bahahahaha This manga is getting eccentric.

Chapter 4
ok, starting to feel this manga less and less. ahh spider-man reference. I guess I still have a few more chapters before I decide, but so far this is a mildly entertaining skip.

Chapter 5
How is the art so good, but the writing so cringy? This is basically a bare bones action film. Weird timing for time skip.

Chapter 6
So far losing interest each chapter.

Chapter 7
Aaaaand there is the premise. Anyone from the Triad may die by the hands of Mr. NeverDie, in the most absurd and outrageous way possible.

Chapter 8
Lackluster twist. No emotional connection to main character so I was not effected by this outcome connected to his past.

Chapter 9
Nice setup for a big brawl. This fight better be bad ass!

Chapter 10
Fight choreography got lazy. I guess they stopped feeling the story as much as I did.
